At the 18 August 2026 meeting of the Future Melbourne Committee the Murrup Biik – Royal Park Master Plan was approved with some minor amendments. This marked the culmination of an extensive period of consultation on the Draft Plan, which resulted in a number of fundamental changes. On 2 August 2026 members of the Parkville Association joined members of Friends of Royal Park, Royal Park Protection Group, Protectors of Public Land for community planting. It was sponsored by a BUPA/Landcare Australia grant the Friends of Royal Park received, and in collaboration with Serco, the planting of an understorey of Wallaby grasses in a woodland area adjacent to the Grassland Circle path, was established. There was an excellent turn-out which not only resulted in planting the grasses, but also in meeting new members and those interested in Royal Park. A second community planting took place on 17 September.

On 15 August the Friends of Royal Park, Royal Park Protection Group, Protectors of Public Land, and the Parkville Association, supported a special presentation at Walmsley House, titled “Rediscovering & Rehabilitating Royal Park Creek” withguest speakers:  Jim Morton, Senior Project Officer, Parks & City Greening, City of Melbourne and Lee Harrison, Senior Ecologist, Parks & City Greening, City of Melbourne.
